Sustainable Swim is slayin’ with Lanikai The Label

My last trip to Bali involved meeting and shooting for a new swim brand, fresh on the eco-friendly scene. With summer fast approaching down in the southern hemisphere, it’s important to have our swim priorities straight before we hit the beach for yet another season of sand, surf and sun. This time, two boxes were very sucessfully ticked :

  1. Sustainably and ethically sourced materials.

  2. Style, Versatility and in this case, Bali-tropical ready.

So without further ado, let’s talk about Lanikai The Label

Introducing: Lanikai The Label

La Boheme Collection

Reversible, multi-way wearable and figure-flattering, Lanikai The Label is a brand that is as classic in its look as it is beach-y in its vibes. We shot the campaign in Villa Palma, ideally located down a rice paddy field alley in Canggu. Both the photographer, myself and the designer came together to create some dreamy images that evoke a way of life No Shoes No Worries very much relates to.

La Boheme has a romantic undertone to it, with it’s detailed, wavy off-the-shoulder cuts and high waisted, figure hugging bottoms. The one pieces hug in all the right places, creating a sleek style that is supportive and stylish. The materials used are high quality fabric you know for certain won’t wear out after a few swims.

True to it’s name, the collection warrants a nomadic, nonchalant lifestyle. It’s about living in the present moment without a worry about the past or expectations of the future. When you truly take the time to smell the flowers, bask in the sun, wander in the garden or cycle down the rice paddy fields, your creativity comes alive and carves the path for you to follow. Whether that’s creating your own swimwear, writing your own book, starting your own business or venturing off into the unknown, bringing yourself to that present moment can really open doors to endless possibilities.

Giving Back

Claire’s vision stemmed from a need to create something for herself that also speaks for the planet and gives back. Every piece is made from eco-friendly material that Claire sourced and researched herself before begining the manufacturing process. Ethically sourced and produced was a priority factor when deciding where and how to make her pieces, which is why she partnered with ECONYL to bring together quality, function and fashion forward swimwear.

I wanted to create responsible swimwear brand that didn’t come at the cost of our people and our planet

The vision

A fun and creative shoot, I loved the brand’s story and chatting with Claire throughout the shoot. She’s a kind hearted soul with the drive and that can-figure-it-out attitude I love about small business owners. It’s always an inspiration for my own goals to see and collaborate with others in a similar boat. Paired with the charismatic charm and visual prowess of photographer Adam Saunders, (also known as Killa Creative) it was a fun morning to be had for all.

More then just an everyday swim collection, the concept of Lanikai The Label was birthed on the shores of it’s namesake, Lanikai Beach in Hawaii. I had the privilege of visiting said beach for the first time this year and it’s beauty is truly something else. Crystal white sand and blue water to match, the ocean gently laps the shore in what can only be described as a typical Hawaiian post card set up. If that isn’t enough to get you ready for summer, the shots from this campaign definietly will!
