Beauty Lineup: All Natural Skin Care Routine

Every so often I am fortunate enough to have some beautiful products sent my way. Naturally (pun intended) I don’t have time to try everything at once, but over the course of the last few weeks, with everyone doubling down at home and giving into a little more self indulgent TLC, I’ve gotten to trial some great all-natural, no fuss skin care products. Some products stood out more then others, which I really want to talk about. When it comes to beauty, I’m a definite advocate of no fuss, no chemicals, all natural.

So I thought I’d break down a few of my favourites below in case something inspires you to treat yourself to a little at-home-spa.

My All Natural Beauty Routine

Step 1 : Cleanse

At the end of the day I love to wash my face with a gentle, but effective, cleanser. Something I know will strip all the dirt, gunk and junk out of my pores. Especially if I’ve been on a long flight, had a sweaty workout or more recently, been sitting in the depths of my living room all day.

In the evenings I use : The Origins Check & Balances frothy face wash smells super minty and fresh, not to mention it has the most satisfying texture on your face. It does exactly what the label says and literally froths as you apply it on your face. I know this one’s a goody because my boyfriend has secretly been using it on his own face, and as far as he’s concerned, soap is soap — yet there’s something about this one he keeps coming back to. Definite sign of a winner right there.

In the mornings I splash my face with cold water to wake me up. If I feel like I need to cleanse after a workout, I’ll also use Bare Skinfoods Purifying Mousse. Super simple and light on the face, perfect for a morning cleanse!

Step 2: TONE

I’ll then apply the Origins Mega Mushroom Relief and Resilience treatment lotion. My skin is quite sensitive and I’ve been noticing a few red patches lately (It'’s been getting colder here in Australia and my skin always reacts to the temperature change) — this lotion has been great to soothe any redness or inflammation, since Reishi (the active ingredient in the lotion) is said to be an anti-irritant.

Step 3 :( 1-2 times a week) Face Mask

When I feel my skin needs a little extra TLC or is on the brink of a cranky PMS breakout, I’ll give it some extra love with a face mask. This Origins Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay is a really beautiful colour and texture on my skin. I usually apply it after the toner, grab a glass of wine, watch the begining of some scandalous TV show for about 5-10 mins or until it dries, rince it off with cold water and voila!

Step 5 : Serum or Face Oil

I use to apply a serum after washing and toning, but recently I was introduced to Byron Bay brand Bare Skinfood and oh lord, their Dew Drops face oil is like a secret weapon.

I’ve never really been a fan of oil on the face, what with the fear of clogging my pores and such, but after a bit of research and watching a few youtube beauty vloggers, I’ve seen first hand how amazing this stuff is.

Bare Skinfood is as natural as it gets, using organic extracts to feed and nourish the skin. They’re vegan, palm oil free and locally produced in Byron which means its a tick of approval on all the fronts. Once I tried the oil, I couldn’t get enough of it. I now use it twice a day, morning and night, before applying makeup or my night cream. It makes my skin dewy and gives it an extra glow. Not to mention I’ve really noticed my skin being much softer and suppler after using it. Big Fan.

A word on Eye Creams:

I use to be the girl who kept it super, super, maybe even a little too super, simple. Eye creams? Nobody got time for that. But recently, with all the summer sun and surf trips I’ve been on in the last year, I’ve started to notice my undereye becoming darker, drier and dare I say it *gasp*crinklier? It wasn’t until I had a facial with a beautician where she had an up-close-and-personal look at my skin to let me know that yes, indeed, it was time to mature up and protect those under-eyes. So I’m a big fan of under-eye cream at the moment and have been applying two different ones, twice daily. Although you could probably do with just one of these, I really enjoy both for specific reasons :

At Night : Antipodes Kiwi Seed Oil Eye Cream The hydration is REAL.

In the morning : Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream. Does exactly what the label says : Depuffs and revitalises.

Step 6: Moisturise

There is one very clear and definite winner here, and it’s Antipodes Baptise H20 Ultra Hydrating Water Gel. Holy Moly. It’s like a giant, big glass of water on my face. Yet another product my boyfriends has been “applying/stealing” for himself. It’s a water based moisturiser that is so hydrating for your skin, your face will be writing you thank you notes. Lightweight yet thick enough to feel like you’ve truly applied something magical. Well done Antipodes, well done. 5 stars all around.

Extra Love :

The Oshan Essentials Aloha Vitality Lip Balm is one of my everyday essentials. Infused with vitamin C and Patchouli, it’s both rejuvenating and fights bacteria (something we definietly all need right now).

I carry this little one in my bag wherever I go. It truly is a life saver for dry lips. And as far as body lotions go, I will never, ever stop raving about their KAI after sun bliss lotion (picture here on my last trip to Hawaii). Infused with chamomile, comfrey and calendula oil it is THE hawaiian after sun you want to treat your sunburnt skin to. Ultimate body hydration right there.
